How is the surgery performed?
Blepharoplasty is usually performed in a day patient facility or requires hospitalization for one day. Local anesthesia or intravenous narcosis is used.
Possible complications
Serious complications occur rarely after blepharoplasty. Some complications may occur (eye damage, purulent conjunctivitis, etc.) but most often they happen if the surgery is performed in bad conditions or by unqualified specialists. Slight eye reddening appears in a few days after the surgery. It does not require special actions and usually decreases and disappears without any consequences.
Edema can be observed during 2-3 weeks after the surgery. Bruises usually disappear in 3-5 days after the surgery. Temporary lacrimation, eyesight change and eyelashes depletion are observed very rarely and usually disappear in 3-4 weeks after the intervention. How long is the postoperative period?
Cosmetic stitches are usually removed on the third or fourth day after the surgery. This is not necessary if absorbable suture is used. Protective stickers on suture lines are used for several days.
