Mesotherapy

Print

Mesotherapy is a method of correction of cosmetic defects of skin and care of face and body. It is widely used in cosmetology and esthetic medicine. This procedure stimulates processes of dissociation of fat depositions, metabolic processes in cells, excretion of excess of liquid by action of drugs and vitamins injected into skin. Because of mechanical effect conglomerations of fat cells in problem areas (cellulite) are destructed and skin surface becomes smoother.

The essence of method is in injection of microscopic doses of special cocktail of various preparations. It is injected by very thin and short needles intracutaneously or subcutaneously to the depth of 1.5-6 mm.

Individual cocktail is selected for each patient!

Mesotherapy helps to solve various esthetic problems:

  • body figure correction;
  • stretch marks elimination;
  • acne treatment;
  • scars and pigmentation;
  • hair loss;
  • baggy lower eyelids;
  • “dewlap”;
  • cellulite and many more.

Until recently the procedure was very painful. Luckily with the advent of new instruments mesotherapy sessions became a lot less uncomfortable for the patients.

Depending on the problem mesotherapy procedures need to be performed once in 7-10 days. For example, for cellulite treatment not less than 10 sessions are necessary.

Mesotherapy has a number of invaluable advantages:

  1. Physiological value (nontoxic mixture helps to clean the organism and improves its general condition);
  2. Use of combined effect of substances as cocktails of compatible preparations;
  3. Results of the whole course are preserved for a long time (about a year for cellulite treatment!);
  4. The method has no age limitations

Mesotherapy contraindications:

  • tendency for allergic reactions;
  • high individual sensitivity for the preparations used, determined by skin test performed by the doctor;
  • haemophilia (blood incoagulability);
  • kidney diseases;
  • pregnancy;
  • oncological diseases

Is it possible to avoid aftereffects?

Today mesotherapy is one of the most popular methods of esthetic medicine. What are the reasons of such popularity? First, its relevance. “Expert” magazine published popularity rating for various esthetic procedures in which mesotherapy occupied first place, other methods like botox injections, injection contour plastic etc. were lower. Mesotherapy is a miraculous way of treatment for cellulite, wrinkles, and hair loss.

Mesotherapy in esthetic medicine:

  • Dermatological problems
  • Scars
  • Body figure correction
  • Prophylaxis and treatment of age-specific skin changes
  • Complex rehabilitation after plastic surgery, laser and chemical peelings, dermabrasion

Second, its relative simplicity. For many, mesotherapy is just an injection into skin. It is often heard: “I am an experienced nurse and I make injections better than any doctor.” Not putting into doubt high qualification and vast practical experience of nurses, it is worth to remind that mesotherapy is only a doctor’s prerogative. It requires fundamental knowledge and specific medical approach to various problems. Though there are “specialists” that teach themselves through advertising publications, picking from them drug names and recipes of cocktails used in mesotherapy and considering this sufficient for successful work.

Mesotherapy is an invasive treatment that implies intracutaneous injection of drugs.

There are several requirements that should be undeviatingly obeyed:

1. Injections are made only in a procedural room with observance of all hygiene and sanitary regulations.

2. Mesotherapy can be performed both manually using disposable syringes and needles, and with the help of special mesoinjector (pistol).

3. Mesotherapy procedures are performed by a doctor who has sufficient qualification, theoretical knowledge and practical experience.

Mesotherapy: ways of injection

1. Apparatus: mechanical and electronic mesoinjectors. Technique: burst or single injections.

2. Manual: 1-3 ml syringes, 30G needles. Technique: nappage, linear, papulation.

Mesotherapy is not only injection technique, to understand it in this way is to oversimplify. This is serious medical method based on traditional fundamental medical knowledge:

  • Knowledge of aetiology and pathogenesis of various forms of skin diseases and esthetic problems: cellulite, alopecia, acne, various manifestations of skin ageing.
  • Basic knowledge of pharmacology. Varous allopathic, homeopathic and biological preparations for intracutaneous and intramuscular injections that have not only local but also general pharmacological action are used in mesotherapy.
  • Carefully taken medical history of the patient helps to discover not only allergic reactions, but also concomitant diseases that can be absolute or relative contraindications for mesotherapy. For example autoimmune diseases are contraindications for preparations of animal origin
