Cosmetic venectomy
Cosmetic venectomy is a surgical method of treatment of varicosity. It is used when compressive sclerotherapy is already ineffective and classic phlebectomy can still be avoided. The surgery eliminates insufficient subcutaneous veins and small varicose knots. An obligatory prerequisite to its performing is sufficiency of valves of great saphenous vein proved by ultrasonography.
In most cases the surgery is performed on an outpatient basis or in day patient facility conditions. The following examinations are necessary before the surgery:
- Doppler ultrasonography of lower extremities vessels (if necessary)
- determination of blood group and Rhesus factor
- global blood analysis
- biochemical blood analysis including blood sugar analysis
- tests for hepatitis, syphilis, and HIV infection, ECG
- thorax rontgenoscopy (fluorography)
With correct vein functional condition assessment and choice of surgical intervention method the number of relapses after the surgery does not exceed 2-5%.
Classic and modified phlebectomy
A surgical method that is used to treat varicose disease on insufficiency of great saphenous vein valves and perforans veins of shank and foot. The surgery is well guaranteed method of varicose veins treatment and prevents its further progress and occurrence of complications (like hyperpigmentation and trophic ulcers). It requires cosmetic stitches and further work on improvement of the cicatrix appearance.
