Reasons of chronic venous insufficiency (CVI)

At the heart of CVI development lie congestion and blood outflow disturbance from lower extremities veins. Static and dynamic hypertension is formed and dilatation of subcutaneous veins, venules and capillaries occurs. More than 80% of women and about 20% of men become afflicted with this disease during their lives. Wide prevalence of venous insufficiency among women is caused by anatomic imperfection of venous system and hormone status features of female organism.

The following factors promote venous insufficiency:

  • hereditary predisposition
  • pregnancy and labor
  • changes of hormone status, especially in pre- and post-menopause period
  • prolonged static loads
  • excess weight
  • insufficient physical activity
  • leg injuries
  • Venous insufficiency of women often develops in the second half of pregnancy or after labor

Symptoms of varicose veins:

  • multiple dilated capillaries of red or blue color
  •  veins become convoluted and bulge over the skin
  • skin color change over a vein, especially in the ankle area
  • edemata, convulsions, heaviness in legs
  • If you note such symptoms, visit the doctor.

Laser removal of dilated vessels

Methods of treatment used in Romital clinic allow to remove dilated vessels without surgery on early stages of chronic venous insufficiency.

Source of intense pulsed light “Photoderm” is used for elimination of vascular “stars” on face, legs and other areas of the body. At the heart of its operation lies the principle of selective photothermolysis that is used for about 20 years and causes minimal risk of side effects. Light impulse selectively heats the vessel and coagulates it thus giving the unique possibility to remove vessels without damaging the skin.

The procedure lasts for 20-30 minutes. 3-4 sessions may be required for complete removal of vessels. Slight reddening may appear after the procedure that completely disappears after several hours. Staying in the sun is not recommended for two weeks before the procedure and two weeks after it.

Attention! The earlier the patients with varicose veins turn to medical treatment the more sparing methods can help them. On early stages dilated vessels can be removed by non-surgical methods (laser impulse or injection of special preparations) but on later stages surgical intervention is necessary.

“Photoderm” is the most advanced device for elimination of dilated vessels. Due to more sophisticated system of skin protection “Photoderm” is more effective and safe than previous generation devices like copper vapor lasers. Removal of vessels with the help of “Photoderm” is virtually painless and causes minimal side effects.
