PAPILLOMA VIRUS did not attract medical attention for a long time until it was proven that condylomas can cause oncologic diseases of reproductive organs.

Papilloma viruses exist in organisms of all people. Various kinds of this virus can cause appearance of birthmarks, warts, papillomas, hyperkeratosis regions, etc. Some kinds of this virus cause pointed condylomas. These kinds are transmitted only sexually, therefore pointed condylomas belong to STD group.

Human papilloma virus lives in skin and mucous coats of genitals. The amount of viruses clearly depends on the condition of immunity of skin and mucous coats – the higher is the immune system activity, the less amount of viruses is contained in them. A certain amount of virus must be accumulated for any symptoms to appear. This is possible only on the assumption of loss of local immunity.

Appearance of condylomas inside urethra is particularly unpleasant. They often declare themselves by difficult urination, change of urine stream shape and its spattering. Condyloma of medium size is usually easy to palpate inside the urethra in both men and women.

One of the most threatening complications of papilloma virus is carcinoma of penis in men and carcinoma of uterine cervix in women. Human papilloma virus is found in virtually all patients afflicted with these diseases.

Anybody can be carrier of human papilloma virus. It is transmitted sexually and cannot be stopped even with usual condom because virus size is much smaller than pores of the condom. The virus can also be transmitted from mother to child during labor if the mother is a virus carrier.
